Action ALS

ALS (Lou Gehrig’s Disease) is possibly the most deadly disease many people have never heard of.  Acclaimed star of stage, screen and TV Jason Alexander, known for creating the character of “George Costanza” on “Seinfeld,” has teamed with The ALS Association to help make everyone aware of this disease that strikes an American every 90 minutes.

Steve Posso, who was diagnosed with ALS in 2007, joins Jason Alexander in the 30-second PSA to let people know that, while ALS is devastating to the people and families fighting this disease, there is hope for effective treatments and a cure.  The PSA is scheduled to air on network and cable TV stations nationwide and can be seen and shared on The Association's national You Tube Channel.

"The ALS Association is thrilled to have Jason and Steve appear in this PSA to raise public awareness about the disease," said ALS Association President & CEO Jane H. Gilbert. "And you can bring hope by joining the fight, making a contribution and telling your friends about our vision to create a world without ALS."

ALS attacks nerve cells in the brain and the spinal cord, which affects a person’s ability to move, speak, eat, and breathe.  To learn more about Lou Gehrig's Disease, click here.

In addition, Jason Alexander expresses his gratitude to America’s war heroes, who are twice as likely to get ALS, in a Veterans Day message at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=loWTYy5Ylkk, and he joins Steve Posso in a message to those who provide care for people with ALS and other afflictions at http://youtu.be/BY4mB0d82hU.

There are many ways to get involved, such as join a Walk to Defeat ALS® team, become an Advocate and make a contribution.  To find out how, click here -- because every person, every family deserves a reason for hope.
